A PORTRAIT OF LAWRENCE DALLAGLIO O.B.E

It was great to hook up with former England Rugby international Lawrence Dallaglio O.B.E. for a portrait shoot.

We had very limited time for this session, literally five minutes, as Lawrence was in the middle of filming for a rugby show for BT Sport at the time.

So as a portrait photographer it pays to be super organised beforehand. That is to know exactly the look you are after and to get lighting and camera settings nailed down before the subject enters the room.

Lawrence was a legend to photograph and love this thoughtful shot of him. When a subject like him has been photographed hunrdeds of times, I strive to shoot a selection of images that they may never have had before.

This image ended up being shortlisted for the Portrait of Britain award and published in their yearly book by Hoxton Mini Press, and also the Royal Photographic Society’s competition which I am both incredibly proud of.
